Words are thrown out all of the time. But it matters to know that behind each word we say, there is a meaning, a history, and a reason. So, what's to the word sexy? What does it mean for you to be categorized as sexy, and does it differ from what you see sexy about yourself?
From a media standpoint, most standards of sexiness and beauty are fleeting. Having gone through all of high school with the thickest eyebrows, biggest ass and thickest hair in my entire grade and most likely school, I know first hand what it feels like not to make it as a standard of beauty. I also knew early on that beauty was often a front word for sexy or attractive. So with that, I assumed I was out of the running in three categories prized by teenage girls.
The real kicker was that even when I went home, where people looked more like me, only some of my traits were legitimized. Big ass...nice... thick hair... we can keep it neat... thick eye brows... you know the nail salon waxes too, right? And so, when I retreated to my bed, I only had a few moments alone with myself to begin to separate what other people, from TWO different spheres of my life believed and what I would let myself believe. The odds have always been against me.
As an adult, same shit different age bracket. It has not been until I have carved out time for myself- away from everyone- to think and meditate that I have only begun to get a grip. And I am closer to 30 than I am 15. What the fuck.
Now, I don't leave anything to chance. Not only do I schedule time to think about myself and talk to myself (yes I talk to myself in the mirror) regularly, but I also surround myself with people who do the same. Nobody, gets to fuck with my energy. Fuck that.
Oh yea, you'll notice I never answered the question put up earlier. That's because it's not for me to answer. Figure out for yourself what is sexy. Just make sure it is coming from you and not all the bullshit around you.
the fuqs
- If beauty is in the eyes of the beholder, make sure you are looking in the mirror.
- Sexy doesn't have to be an adjective. It can be a delicious way of life.
- Your sexiness can be as fluid as you are and still remain authentically yours.
Fuck whatcha heard. You're sexy as hell.
