You Can Be the King, But Watch The Queen Conquer

By: Sherina Nicole

That was one of my favorite lines, EVER, spoken by Nicki Minaj. Let’s be clear when we are talking about vaginas. Around me, do NOT use code names like pussy and patty cake to make vaginas sound or seem less fierce. I’ve never been a fan of such dilution.

As a matter of fact, you should be a little scared when approaching one. Real power often has that effect- who knows, it may even encourage respect. Don't be alarmed!

The important difference between saying ‘my name is’ and ‘I am’ - simply put, a name is given to you as a label of sorts, whereas, ‘I am’ is who you have always been.

My vagina, Queen, on her journey to self-identity has found herself the respondent to a few names. During my most awkward years, she was You Know - Down There. You Know-Down There was unknown and certainly misunderstood. She found herself swaddled by dance leotards, tights, rolled up shorts that barely covered my ass,  and hip hugging jeans. During this phase of my life, she was the host of at least one yeast infection and not taken care of. There was so much to learn.

After sometime, with the coming of my period and hormone surges, You Know...Down There outgrew the name and the lack of attention that came with it. Revved up but not necessarily “ready to go”, You Know...Down There evolved. From there she went through a few names, The Goods, Her, and even the names bestowed upon her by past lovers (mind your business). But nothing ever stuck. Simply put, it took time and experience to learn my vagina and her essence. It wasn’t until a train ride that I spoke openly about my dilemma. With his help, history was made.

Queen. Call her Queen.

I was enthralled with the idea, but it was not until this idea was tested that she and I both knew this was it. While my partner was adjusting himself on his stomach to give me oral sex, and acknowledged my vagina as Queen, she responded with pure ecstasy.

The FuQs:

An elder of mine, once reminded me of the important difference between saying “My name is” and “I am”- simply put, a name is given to you as a label of sorts, whereas “I am” is who you have always been.

Your vagina is a queen and so are we.
